Put that cabin on a gym floor and you have changed the job without changing the machine. What changes is the heater specification and, when the room asks for it, the box itself.
Where it stops being fine is when the room and the catalogue do not line up: a long narrow room and the only cabin that seats enough is square, a session of ten and a cabin that seats six. Most suppliers sell their biggest unit and let you live with the gap. The third option is what this page is about.

Measure the space the sauna can occupy, then take off the clearance: a swinging door, a path past it, a gap behind for the wall.
A clean rectangle left over is catalogue territory; a thin strip, an L, or a rectangle with a column is not. Clearances for the unit you are quoted come in writing.
Not how many members you have: how many are in the sauna at once, in the slot that fills first.
Four to six is a catalogue number; ten to twelve is not.
Measure the narrowest point from the street to the spot: gate, corridor, doorway, lift, any turn. Then the ceiling height.
A cabin that will not fit through the door is assembled inside, which changes the assembly quote.
The fourth question is power. Traditional saunas hard-wire, and the connection is made by your licensed electrician, not by us: a separate line item on any quote. Single or three phase, and where the board sits, changes the price. The requirement for the unit you are quoted comes in writing.
If those four questions leave you with a room a catalogue cabin fits, take it. That is a real recommendation, not a set-up for an upsell.

So how do you judge a build you cannot see? By the standard of the work. Showrooms are open by appointment: put your hands on the timber, the bench fixings, the door hardware, the way the glass sits in its frame.
A scratch build is that standard of joinery drawn to different dimensions. Then the questions, and they work on any supplier including us: the five to ask about an odd room.
A heater is sized to the volume it heats and the conditions it holds: change the room and you change the heater.

Three things move the number: the volume of the cabin, the heat loss through glass and doors and how often they open, and how fast the room recovers after a group has been through. A home cabin is sized against an easy version of all three.
Tell the people on the commercial call the room and the busiest slot, and ask what it needs and why. A model number offered without a reason is not an answer, from us or from anyone.

Every traditional sauna can be optioned with the Wi-Fi controller, a premium applies, or comes with built-in controls, depending on the heater, with the option price confirmed on the call. Harvia is behind the app: it schedules heat-up, learns your cabin's heat-up time, and tells your phone when the sauna is ready.
Heat-up is 20 minutes to an hour on average, depending on the temperature you want. For running cost, ask for the figure for your model at a stated tariff, in writing.
These stall a commercial sauna for months, and none is difficult. One short call with the room in front of you settles most of them; the rest go onto the drawing. No deposit is taken on it.

Alongside them sits the commercial support package, coverage plus scheduled maintenance, part of the answer to year three: Commercial Use Coverage at $500, maintenance packs at $440 for six months or $850 for twelve. They are cost lines: ask which apply and get the total. If an ice bath is quoted too: Commercial Ice Bath $6,730 to $7,730 and Commercial Chiller $4,950.
Why there is no all-in commercial figure here. Your room, your power, your access and your timetable set it. A custom build has no list price: built from scratch by our in-house build team, quoted to the drawn room. The delivered and assembled number is quoted on the call.
Five questions for an odd room. Take them to every supplier, ours included.

Better said here than discovered after a deposit. Three situations make a scratch build the wrong call, and we will say so in all three.
Your room takes a catalogue cabin. If the measurements work, take the cabin: quicker, comparable, and there is nothing clever about paying for a build you did not need.
Your budget is set and your date is close. A custom build is drawn, built, delivered, then assembled. It is not the fast option and we will not pretend otherwise. If the suite has to open in eight weeks, ask about catalogue units and stock windows instead.
You may not still be in this building. A sauna built to a room is built to that room. If your lease is short or a move is being discussed, a catalogue cabin that can be dismantled and moved is the better answer.
A fourth case is worth naming: a sauna may not be the right purchase for your floor this year at all, and that is a legitimate answer to come off the call with. The plan and the quote cost nothing and do not go stale. If you leave with both and a decision to buy next financial year, that is a good outcome.
Most operators have been ghosted by a supplier at least once. The question deserves things you can verify, not a slogan.

Second, ask for the quote broken into lines: cabin or build, heater specification, delivery, assembly, commercial-use items. A quote you can read line by line is one you can compare, or take to a board.
Possibly, and we will say so on the call. A build earns its keep when the room genuinely will not take a cabin. If a cabin fits, that is what we will quote, and it is the cheaper answer.
