The timber in your sauna
Thermally modified timber comes in two classes. The Mini 2.0 uses Thermo-D, the higher grade, for both the Thermo Pine exterior and the Thermo Aspen benches.
Thermo-D is treated longer and hotter. The result is timber that holds its shape through Australian humidity, absorbs less moisture and resists fungal decay.

Thermo-D costs significantly more to produce, so some timber sold as Thermo-D is actually the cheaper Thermo-S. Under-treated or poorly dried thermowood can absorb moisture and grow mould in humid climates. Ask for the grade in writing.

Both are thermally modified, but Thermo-D is treated at approx. 200–215°C versus 185–190°C for Thermo-S. That makes it more durable and stable, lower in moisture absorption and more resistant to fungal decay. Both the exterior and the benches in your Mini 2.0 are Thermo-D.
